Equity against ranges?

How do we go about calculating our equity with a hand say QQ against the top 5% of a vilian's range? All I know how to do is plug the numbers into pokerstove and let that do the work, but how can I make these calculations at a live game? Are there any short cuts?

its easy mang, you just use probability, the odds of drawing a face card are 12!/52! and then you just use the formula F(G(x))=-(n+a! -4ac)/(2a)
